How I Learned To Fly.....
One of the main reasons that I wanted to be a part of this book is that I want to help empower women who are feeling lost, or stuck in a lackluster life.
I want them to know that they are not alone, and that there are others who not only have been where they are, but have made changes, and shifts and are no longer stuck in that place of no motivation, but instead are loving the life they live. I want them to know that they can tap into their passions, and create a new vision for their lives. They can take action, small steps to get moving towards what it is that is pulling at their heart. They don’t have to go this alone. There are others who have gone before them and will help hold them up when they are ready to “learn how to fly” for themselves. |
Here is an Except from How I Learned To Fly....
"What is it about humans that keeps some of us banging our heads against the wall, or doing the same things expecting different results? What is it that has to happen for us to get knocked off of the path we are on? For some, it might be reaching a certain age; for others, it happens when the discomfort becomes too unbearable. For me it was both, at age 49 I realized I had become comfortable being uncomfortable but I was no longer willing to suffer anymore. I knew what that felt like and was not okay staying there.
Maybe this was the flying that I dreamed about….it isn’t until we expand our horizons that we learn about other opportunities, other ways of being. Until that happens, we just keep doing the same things over and over again….just like the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. What I have found, and what my clients find as well, is that there are many more opportunities out there than we realize....."

What others are saying:
"How I Learned to Fly" is a poignant reminder that we all have the beautiful opportunity to live a truly authentic life. The author, Fiona Bain, reminds us that true happiness, true inner peace comes from taking inventory of our own passions, deeply reflecting on our own personal dreams and desires. This reflection will shed light and guide our wings to fly towards the life we desire to live. Her message motivates us to extend the special and unique wings we each have been given, to take the risks, to face the fear, and to take flight. Through sharing her story, Fiona encourages us, supports us and most importantly, inspires each one of us, to take that leap and see ALL of the endless possibilities that await us if we trust in our own wings and fly our own flight. It is truly a story of hope, optimism and celebration of living life to the fullest. --Dianne Winicki
"Fiona’s story about learning to fly is both inspirational and approachable. Many people, especially women, will relate directly to her three part journey, as each leg of her flight plan becomes clear and takes her closer to her destination of mission and purpose. When you read about Fiona’s self-discovery adventure, you'll feel like she’s in the room with you, sharing a cup of tea or glass of wine; you’ll want to immediately engage to share your own.” --Jacqueline Franklin
Thank you Fiona Bain for your chapter on How I Learned to Fly. Boy did I resonate with your story and even more hearing about your experience gave me a feeling of not being the "only one who feels like this." Your amazing chapter is very real, honest and motivating - I thoroughly enjoyed it, you made me shake my head yes, that's me too.
Thank you for that. It is in reading about others who are "just like us" that we gain the best knowledge of how we can get to where we are truly meant to be. --Kim Ravida
